Rowe Announces Over $1.8 Million in LSA Grants for 85th District

HARRISBURG – State Rep. David H. Rowe (R-Snyder/Union/Mifflin/Juniata) announced more than $1.8 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants to upgrade essential infrastructure, strengthen emergency services, and modernize aging equipment across the 85th District. Partnering with Sen. Lynda Schlegel-Culver (R-27), Rowe supported the grants to help municipalities reduce long-term maintenance costs, improve operational efficiency, and better serve residents.

“I’m proud to have advocated for these grants, which will help our local governments save money while strengthening essential services,” said Rowe. “By replacing outdated equipment, upgrading critical infrastructure, and investing in safer, more efficient facilities, these projects will reduce repair costs, improve reliability, and ease long-term budget pressures. These investments ensure our communities can operate more effectively while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.”

Rowe emphasized that LSA grants are funded through state gaming revenue, not taxpayer dollars, and expressed gratitude for the support received.

“These grants will help local communities move forward with important projects while reducing the financial burden on municipal budgets and taxpayers,” Culver said. “I appreciate the work our local officials and community organizations put into identifying these needs, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to work with our House colleagues to support investments that will make a difference for the people we serve.”

Approved Projects Include:

• Center Township, $400,000 to renovate and expand the Penns Creek Volunteer Fire Company facility.

• Chapman Township, $200,000 to purchase a new tractor with a side mount mower.

• McClure Municipal Authority, $175,000 to replace aging control systems and critical piping.

• Middleburg Municipal Authority, $147,988 to purchase a skid steer and heavy duty pickup truck.

• Penn Township, $178,750 to replace a deteriorating loader with a modern Caterpillar 920 Wheel Loader.

• Perry Township, $299,625 to purchase a fully equipped ambulance.

• West Beaver Township, $345,400 to construct a new three bay salt shed.

• West Perry Township, $71,000 to replace an unreliable road grader with a skid loader.

The funding for these projects was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). This is an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
